Sina, that's my name. Have you ever looked up the meaning of your own name ? While traveling people keep coming to me and tell me that "Sina" is Russian, short for Sinaida, the Turkish have that name - "Sinan" male version, others say it's Scandinavian or whatever. In German it is short for Rosina, which reminds me of "Rosinen", raisins !! Who wants to be called after a shrinkled (shrunk and wrinkled) grape ?? ...but to be honest: I never really cared.
When my Mom was pregant with me she happened to watch this germen serial "Tatort - Die Reifeprüfung" - where one of the actresses' name was Sina. My parents liked it a lot, they gave me that name. End of story.
In one of the schools that I did in Perth, Australia - the Birth Attendant School - our staff made the effort to look up all the meanings of the student's names. I don't know if that meaning is absolutely accurate, but I liked what I read:
Sina: tender, beautiful tree, iron speartip !
I love life, I love Jesus and I love living my life with Jesus !! I will go where he goes, my home is where he puts me next. I will live my life for him only, praise and worship him all day long and I will not be silent of what he has done in my life ! I will keep a tender heart towards him, whatever may happen to me or the people I love. I will drink from the living water that he provides for the thirsty so that I can be beautiful for him, like a tree planted by the waters. I will fight for the lost, the needy, the sick, for Jesus to be revealed in their lives and to many more who witness his power ! Like an iron speartip I will penetrate the hearts of the people with Jesus' love for them. The enemy has already lost the war, but we stand firm till the end and fight the good fight. I am in God's army on earth and I am absolutely spoiled for the ordinary. (I learned that in YWAM - Youth With A Mission). There is so much more out there. Grasp it, seek it, fight for it.... Let the living God rule your life completely...and BE FREE.
